Happy Hump Day

Happy Hump Day Y'all...this week the following things put a smile on my face:

1) Nicole's baby shower on Sunday was a success, I'd say. Lots of good food, friends and baby presents. I couldn't help but laugh because a number of gifts she opened I was thinking "what in the world is that" and started to get nervous because you don't want to open a gift from someone and have no idea what it is...then that happened to Nicole and she just said "what's this?", it was great because I didn't feel like such an idiot!

2) Heard the news from our friends the Branam's that yesterday was what Leslie called "gotcha day" or the day their adoption was finalized. We are so happy for them and look forward to eventually meeting their little man!

3)Second annual Gustav Anniversary Party tonight...looking forward to getting out and chatting with the neighbors. We missed the first annual party last year because we were on vacation and I'm really looking forward to it. Although I use the term party lightly in my case, I'm looking forward to visiting with the block and having a few O'Douls.

Happy Hump Day

Happy hump day y'all...this week the following things put a smile on my face:

1) The night stand for the baby's room arrived on Friday, I'd post a picture but the room is such a disaster I'm certain I wouldn't be able to get an unobstructed view of the night stand. The crib is scheduled to be delivered the second week of September and the changing table topper the middle of October. It's very exciting because it's coming together very quickly!

2) Baking, baking, baking...while at the time I wouldn't have said this put a smile on my face, I know everyone loves a cookie or cupcake so it will be worth it. On Sunday I baked for hours...no joke, hours. I made one dozen tiara cookies for Olivia's birthday party, two dozen onesies for Nicole's baby shower and three dozen butterfly cookies for Hallea's birthday party...now just to decorate them all! This weekend I look forward to decorating the onesies and baking cupcakes for the baby shower and tonight will also be baking cupcakes for a work celebration. It's funny, when the word gets out that you like to bake...it spreads fast!

3) Meeting the newest addition to our family...last night I visited with my cousin who, since the last time I saw her, got married, moved to Australia and had a baby! She and her boyfriend were moving to Australia for work (which we all knew) then decided to get married before they moved, then got pregnant one month after they got married. She was in town with baby Wesley and he is just the cutest, about five months old, blue eyes and blond hair that looks like he got a military buzz cut. I'd share pictures but I was so frazzled by the time I got there because of the horrendous traffic jam that was the city of Baton Rouge yesterday, I didn't even think about taking pics, so unlike me!

We are having dinner with the neighbors tonight at Rotolos to plan our second annual Gustav anniversary party and am excited about that...last year our festivities made the news (it helps when your neighbor is a former news person). Also, in a few short weeks we will be finding out the baby's gender which will lead to shopapalooza and I can hardly wait.

Happy hump day everyone...this week the following things made me smile:


1) Spending time with Brandon's 15 year old nephew, Tyler - I guess I didn't realize how far removed I am from my teenage years but man was this a new experience. I forget what it's like to not have a care or worry in the world, and your biggest concern being how your hair looks or what clothes your wearing. Brandon's nephew spent Friday and Saturday night at our house and kept himself entertained with his x-box he brought along. I also realized if I knew then what I know now about teen age boys, I probably would not have been interested in boys at all!!


2) Red Stick Roller Derby - We went to the final bout of the season on Saturday night and I was truly entertained by the whole spectacle. My friend Michelle and I had decided to go and she gave me the assignment to watch "Whip It" before the bout. I'm glad I did because I was still a good bit lost even with the little I learned watching the movie. Brandon and Tyler were not quite as entertained as I but I think they enjoyed themselves none the less.


3) Predictions on the bumps gender - so far I've had four boys and one girl. My friend Brooke told me she "just has a feeling" I'm having a boy, my sister-in-law did the "needle gender test" and determined we are having a boy. My friend Donna's son says boy (just a 50/50 guess, but so far has guessed right for 4 out of 4). My co-worker Gaynell says girl based on the heartbeat. My friend Ashley has just decided it's a boy and has even named it Adam Ashley Abadie. It's fun to hear what everyone thinks and we're getting more excited everyday to find out. I added a poll to the website so people can vote on their guess/prediction for the gender...I hope you'll post your vote!

Happy Hump Day

Happy Hump Day Everyone! This week the following things put a smile on my face.


1) Millie - Brandon was out of town the later part of last week and she was so pitiful without him. That dog loves Brandon like nothing else, she was so melancholy the whole time he was out of town.




Most evenings she just sat on the arm of the couch staring at the door, waiting for him to come home. One night when I put her into the bed, she just sat there as if she wasn't really sure what to do. She has a routine every night where she stands on Brandon's chest and he just pets and pets and pets her and then she goes to bed. So, the first night we went to bed without him, she didn't know what to do with herself, it was pretty pathetic!

2)UPS guy - the baby's dresser was delivered on Monday evening and for the second time, the UPS guy cracked me up. Our first delivery a few weeks back was the twin bed and trundle for the baby's room and he just gave me this look as if to say "lady, you're killing me!" At that point, Brandon went out to the truck and helped him bring in the four boxes. Well, the dresser came on Monday and was assembled, just one big (heavy) box and he said to Brandon, "Man, you've got that truck, why don't you make use of it?" It cracked me up...I could imagine he was thinking, why don't you pick up your own furniture next time, so funny! I hate to break it to him but we are still expecting a few more packages...the crib and the changing table topper. I can't wait to hear what he has to say then!

3) Bigger pants - I bought a few large size scrub pants for work and they make me so happy. I has hoped originally that I wouldn't need new scrub pants, after all they are draw string waist but unfortunately that is not the case. I only bought two pairs at the time but must go back for more soon. My old scrub pants feel like sausage casing and just do not work very well...I'm afraid I'll split a seam soon. However my new scrub pants are so roomy with plenty of wiggle room and room to grow and that makes me very happy.

4)Doctors appointment today - went for my 16 week visit today and all is well with the bump. Heard the heartbeat, in the 150s which immediately led my sister to declare it a boy. Good news is we don't have to wait much longer to find out...we will know at our next appointment and that is certainly something to smile about .

Happy Hump Day

Happy Hump Day y'all...this week the following things put a smile on my face:

1) Lazy Sunday...after church on Sunday I had a headache so between loads of laundry I decided to get in bed and read, try to relax and see if my headache would subside. While in bed reading, I felt a little guilty for being so lazy but then thought with a smile...in less than six months, I won't have this opportunity to be lazy on a Sunday afternoon for quite some time. I decided to just relish the time knowing our lives will be very (happily, excitedly, nervously!) different before we know it!

2) Surprise gifts in the mail...is there anything better than that??? Last week there was a Barnes and Noble package in the mailbox when I got home. I racked my brain trying to remember what I had ordered. I had pre-ordered this book but didn't think it would be out until September and just couldn't figure it out. When I got inside and got it opened, I was so surprised to find this:

from my friend Allyson...such a sweet surprise and I started reading it Sunday afternoon and it has been very entertaining, insightful and funny so far.

3)Good news from my friend Meredith...who I spoke to yesterday and she is also expecting. It's exciting to share this time with a friend and now that makes three of us from work who are all expecting at about the same time.
